So a rather late start to the season for the HSSA. Rather late than never. Iy is a great pity that the Corona Virus has arrived and affected all our lives.
However for those who did make it to the festival had a good days worth of running.
We saw good action and plenty of dices through the field. Great pity a few had mechanical maladies and could not participate in the fun.
Patrick Dunseith blew his clutch, Richard Baker ran a bearing and John McKercher had various maladies. Ryann Budd in the beautiful Lotus did not take part in heat 1 but managed to do heat 2.
There were some great dices throughout the field with Clive and Shannon having a great dice in the Elva Porsche and Lotus 23 respectively. Des and Paul had a great dice in heat 2 until Paul had a brain freeze thinking the race had finished and spun in the hairpin. It was great to see a new car from Colin Clay also in a lotus 23c replica also in the mix. He had a few kinks in the brakes but managed to bring the car home in both heats.
Tony Beecher managed to have a few spins one of which was on the warmup lap (embarresing hehe)
Fortunately/ unfortunately Ian Schofield in the beautifully prepped March 77bAtlantic had no opposition but drove like a champion. Would be great to see more atlantics out. The field was small but a great day was had by all.
Unfortunately because of the up tick in Corona cases it looks like all motorsport is on hold for the foreseeable future.
A lot of Fords were not present which is sadly the sign of the times both economical and the Carona Virus.
Hopefully we will have some action later in the year. Until then PLEASE ALL KEEP SAFE AND LOOK AFTER ONES SELF AND FAMILY.
