WINGS AND SLICKS
The wings and slicks category was brought into existence fairly recently to try and get the numerous cars of the yester year back into the
limelight. There has been various races which have brought these cars out, unfortunately the cost of running and keeping these cars in racing trim is exorbitant. There are a few stalwarts racing but the grid is not as successful as we would want. With the exchange rate as it is a lot of the cars have been sold overseas or put into museums. The few that are regulars are shown below. In the gallery sction there are pics of a few cars that have raced or demonstrated
1986 REYNARD 863 F3 - Owner /Driver ALAN KERNICK
Car was originally raced in the British F3 series by Perry McCarthy (original SIG) and then into F1. The car was imported and raced by Peter Ellenbogen/Michael Kernick. The car is now owned by A.J Kernick. Both Michael and A.J driving the car as and when required in the Wings and Slicks class.
1976 March 77B Formula Atlantic - Owner/Driver IAN SCHOFIELD.
The car in it's original Benson & Hedges livery. Originally raced by Nols Nieman.
Now owned by Ian and driven regularly in the Wings and Slicks Catergory
Car No 9 - 1975 Chevron B29 Atlantic Owner
Driver NEIL LOBB
This car was original brought out to South Africa to take part in the SA formula Atlantic series and was driven by Len Booysen.
This car is a regular at HSSA meetings
CAR No 99 Chevron B20 - Owner/ Driver JOSH DOVEY
A newcomer to the Series . Josh imported the to enter the Simola Hill
Climb series. However he also decided to run in the HSSA Series which is a nice addition. This car is a Formula 3 chevron and is built to
F3 period standard.
